The salary cap has risen by almost $100 million for the 2018-19 season, and the NHLPA will have to weigh whether to raise players’ salaries this season.
The players who are set to make the biggest increase include forward Alex Killorn, defenseman Alex Pietrangelo and goalie Jonas Gustavsson.
The salary increases come after the NHL extended the contracts of the top three earners in the NHL, defenseman Andrew MacDonald and goaltender Carey Price, with the latter earning a $2.5 million raise from $8.25 million to $10.25.
The top three players in the salary cap this season are defenseman Alex Killorns, center Alex Pietrus and goaltender Jonas Gustavsons salary.
In the meantime, the salary for defenseman Tomas Plekanec, forward Mike Ribeiro and goalie Anton Khudobin will increase by $500,000.
